It's Campaign for Wool, wool week! Well wool month actually so we are celebrating our woollen knitwear.

Wool is often an overlooked eco friendly raw material. At end of use, wool biodegrades naturally back into the land, adding nutrients and leaving no trace of micro-fibre evidence in oceans and waterways.

How can you tell a good quality knit?

Good quality knitwear requires great skill from trained technicians. It could be made using seam free manufacture like our snow jumpers, or with a linking machine like our alpaca roll-necks. You might notice small grading stitches along the seams where there have been increasing or decreasing of stitches to form the shape.  These techniques use only the yarn required for the garment with almost no waste. Cheaper knitwear will be produced using a 'cut and sew' technique, by laying out the pattern on long strip of fabric, leaving behind the offcuts for landfill. The pieces are cut and sewn together like woven garments. Usually these pieces will be made from cheaper materials that bobble and mis-shape easily.
