The 30^th of November is Small Business Saturday. It’s a celebration of all the independent people who give you unusual products in an independent way and make your high street - and your online shopping - a little more interesting.  I’m one of those independent-minded people who dared to start out on my own and make stuff that I hoped people would wear.  It started with a pair of unique hand knitted socks (our Turkish socks - they’re still one of our bestsellers) and now, 17 years on, Lowie is still small but I love what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way.  Our Lowie team includes 5 full-time staff (including me) and 4 part-timers, all of whom live locally in South London and are paid at least the Living Wage.  By supporting Lowie you’re also supporting my staff and we hope that by shopping with us, you’re getting great customer service and unique, small-batch sustainable products that will last you a lifetime - guilt free shopping.

Small business Saturday is about reminding my Lowie community that we really appreciate your custom, that without you I wouldn’t have this business.  So, before you go and buy another Christmas present from Amazon or even John Lewis (soz), have a think about why you like your community and what makes it special. 

Without small business owners like me, life would be so boring.
