The Patch Up - meet make mend. Book your spot now.

Back in 2020, I had an idea for a monthly meet-and-mend at our old offices in Brixton — a friendly, social gathering where we could exchange tips on repairing clothes and extending the life of our most treasured garments.

And then COVID hit.

The shop shut, everyone stayed indoors, and suddenly we all had a lot of time on our hands. So instead, we reimagined the Patch Up and hosted weekly Zoom workshops from our kitchens, using whatever we had lying around. We taught mini weaving, puppet sock making, floral embroidery, sashiko, darning, reverse appliqué — the list went on.

We had a wonderful group of regulars who joined us each week, and we truly loved our little online community. But when restrictions lifted, everyone (quite understandably!) was ready to log off Zoom and step back out into the world. The Patch Up naturally ran its course, and life returned to something like normal.

So for London Repair Week, 2nd-8th March, we’re bringing it back.

This time, just as originally imagined: an in-person social gathering where we can share fabrics, yarns, ideas and plenty of cups of tea.

The Patch Up - Lowie 18 Half Moon Lane SE24 9HU - Tuesday 3rd March - 6-8pm

At Lowie, we offer free lifetime repairs on all Lowie garments, so mending is something we see — and do — every single day. Keeping clothes in circulation for as long as possible is at the heart of what we believe in.

London Repair Week was launched by London Recycles in 2020 with an aim to give people practical skills to repair and re-use and encourage the use of existing repair services in London.

So come along. Bring a garment that needs a little love, and meet other like-minded people who care about craft, community and making things last.
